WORX GT2.0 20V MaxLithium Trimmer/Edger Review

Editor’s Note:  WORX also has a 32V model that has exactly the same features described here for the 20V GT2.0. Are you tired of hauling around a heavy, smelly gas trimmer? Or tripping over the cord on an electric one? Then the new, redesigned WORX GT2.0 MaxLithiumTM 3-in-1 Grass Trimmer/Edger/Mower may be the perfect tool for you. Unlike most trimmers, this one is battery powered. I was skeptical at first. I’d read some less than positive reviews about an earlier model (the WORX WG155 20V MAX Cordless Lithium 10-Inch String Trimmer/Edger) – about the poor battery life, the difficulty in adjusting it, and the 10″ trimming width. But with the 2013 redesign, WORX seems to have fixed these issues. For me, ease of use is of primary concern. That means it has to work as it’s supposed to (and not run out of battery power half way through the job) and it must be comfortable to hold and use. The new battery-powered trimmer hits on all fronts. Operating the WORX GT2.0 String Trimmer/Edger Using the WORX trimmer is as simple as sliding in the battery back and pressing the ‘On’ button. No gas tank to fill, no cord to pull, no trying…

Electric Wheelbarrow Review

An electric wheelbarrow? Seriously? Before trying this one, I’d never even heard of such a thing. But now that I’ve used it for several months, I’m a convert.  In fact, I can’t imagine using a non-powered wheelbarrow again! We tested the C27-7A electric power wheelbarrow from www.electricwheelbarrows.com. This has a slightly smaller hopper capacity (7 cubic feet) than the newer model (C27-8A, with an 8 cubic feet capacity) but was in all other respects identical. The unit doesn’t look like a traditional wheelbarrow at all, but it performs all of the tasks of a regular wheelbarrow – and then some.  Movement is controlled with a throttle on the right handle (similar to what you’d find on a motorcycle). The handles are padded for comfort and the dual ag wheels allow you to drive over rough terrain. All of our testers found the electric wheelbarrow easy to use. Here are the features we liked best … Highly Maneuverable I was surprised at just how nimble this electric wheelbarrow is. Unlike most models, which have only one or two wheels, this one has four – and it’s those extra two wheels that make it very stable and easy to maneuver. The two rear…

Toro UltraPlus Electric Leaf Blower Vac (51621): Product Review

With fall comes fallen leaves and the question of what to do with them. Some people compost them to create leaf mold, others use them as mulch on garden beds, and others choose to dispose of them entirely. But one way or another, you have to first collect those leaves. That’s where a combination leaf blower, vacuum and leaf shredder like the Toro UltraPlus comes in handy. We put together a video review so you can see the UltraPlus in action, but don’t forget to read the review below for all the details! Read the instructions before using the UltraPlus. It’s simple to use but you’ll need to know what the various parts are for and how to put them together. It comes with the following attachments: Blower tube Oscillating nozzle Concentrator nozzle Power insert nozzle Inlet cover (to protect the impeller while in blower mode) Vacuum tube (2 parts) Leaf collection bag with shoulder strap Different nozzles for different needs. Advantages of the Toro UltraPlus Leaf Blower Vac We put the Toro UltraPlus to the test against wet Texas Olive tree leaves and fallen fruit on sand, gravel and a brick patio. These are tough leaves – almost like leather…

Black & Decker High Performance Blower/Vac/Mulcher (BV3600): Product Review

When you need to remove fallen leaves from your lawn or garden, a combination leaf blower, vacuum and mulcher is a convenient option. The difficulty is finding a combination blower/vac/mulcher that works well in all three modes. We put the BV3600 high performance model from Black & Decker to the test in a variety of conditions. Watch the video below but don’t forget to read the review for all the details! Assembling the Parts The Black & Decker high performance blower/vac/mulcher arrives un-assembled, but assembly is a snap (sorry, bad pun). The two parts of the blow tube snap together and can also be taken apart if needed, although it can be a bit of a struggle if there’s grit between the parts. The concentrator nozzle attaches to the end of the blow tube with a tab that snaps over a raised post on the tube. It’s a little finicky to get on and off, and over time I can see the tab breaking off, but it works adequately. The two vacuum tube parts also snap together. Be sure the notches and triangles on the upper and lower tubes are properly aligned before you push them together because they are…

Troy-Bilt JET Gas Leaf Blower (TB2MB): Product Review

This has got to be the coolest looking leaf blower out there. Troy-Bilt went back to the drawing board with this one and came back with a design that puts a huge amount of air flow through the unit, plus has that wow factor. We put together a video review so you can see it in action, but don’t forget to read the full review below for all the details. Simple Assembly With only three parts (the main unit and a two-part blower tube), the blower is easy to assemble right out of the box. Snap the two parts of the tube together and then twist it onto the “jet” to lock it in place. Done. With only three parts (the main unit and a two-part blower tube), the blower is easy to assemble right out of the box. It does take a fair bit of pressure to snap the pieces together and they’re not meant to come apart easily after assembly (you’ll need a screwdriver to carefully lift up the tabs that keep the tube in place). Be sure to properly align the upper blower with the blower unit before trying to twist it into place. The JET blower has a gas-powered,…

GreenWorks G-MAX 20” 40V Cordless Twin Force Mower: Product Review

Every year there are more battery-powered mowers on the market, and they’ve gone from being a curiosity to a mainstream option in the lawn care space. Mowers in general have come a long way since I started my first business (Whitehaven Lawn Mowing) at age 12 (it put me through college and I mowed a LOT of lawns!). So it I was looking forward to testing the latest cordless lawn mower designs. Setting Up The Mower The GreenWorks G-MAX mower arrived in a box with all of the parts well packaged so there was no shifting or damage during transport. Included in the box are the following: Twin Force Mower Rear discharge bag Mulching plug Owners manual 1 4Ah 40V battery 1 2Ah 40V battery Battery charger The mower was ready to go out of the box – all I had to do was adjust the handle bar from the storage/transport position to the mowing position by loosening a lever, moving the handle into position, and then flipping the lever back to the closed position. The handle can be just as easily folded back to make it more compact for storage. The mower is neatly and securely packaged and needs no assembly. When…
